PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MAINTENANCE OF RIGHT -OF -WAYS <br />SECTION 809 <br />Frank Heyming, President of Victoria Avenue Forever, requested that Victoria Avenue <br />be exempted from the proposed Charter amendment to remove maintenance of <br />parkways, shrubs, and trees within the street right -of -way from the jurisdiction of the <br />Park and Recreation Commission. <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Member Tucker and seconded by Member Tyrell <br />recommending to the City Council an amendment to Charter Section 809 as drafted by <br />staff to remove responsibility for maintenance of ,parkways, shrubs, and trees within the <br />street right -of -way from the jurisdiction of the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />COMMISSION ON SUSTAINABILITY - ARTICLE Vill <br />,Justin Scott -Coe, Matt Barth, and Robert Stockton spoke in support of a Charter <br />Commission on Sustainability. Scott Simpson spoke in opposition of a Charter <br />Commission on Sustainability. <br />Fallowing discussion, it was moved by Member St. Pierre and seconded by Member <br />Kane recommending to the City Council a Charter amendment to create a Commission <br />on Sustainability as outlined in the written agenda materials. Motion carried with <br />Members Benavidez, Hicks, Tucker, and Tyrrell voting no. <br />Member Pope left the meeting at this time. <br />RUN -OFF ELECTIONS - CITY COUNCIL - SECTION 400 <br />Nanette Pratini spoke in favor of ranked choice voting. <br />The City Clerk explained options and associated costs for City Council run -off elections <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Member Tucker and seconded by Member St. <br />Pierre recommending to the City Council a Charter amendment to provide that run -off <br />elections for members of the City Council be conducted on the last Tuesday in August <br />of odd - numbered years. The motion carried with Members Evans, Jose Medina, and <br />Perez voting no. <br />RUN -OFF ELECTIONS - MAYOR - SECTION 400 <br />The City Clerk explained options and associated costs for Mayor run -off elections. <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Member Tucker and seconded by Member <br />Van Wart to make no recommendation to the City Council regarding rescheduling of <br />Mayor run -off elections. Subsequently, the motion and second were withdrawn. No <br />formal action was required or taken. <br />M <br />
