<br />This motion carried by the following vote:

<br />It was moved by Councilman Smutz, seconded by Councilman O'Neill, and duly carried, that
<br />pursuant to the recommendation of the Board of Public Utilities, the purchase of that certain real
<br />property situate in the City of Riverside, County of Riverside, State of California, and described as
<br />the southwesterly corner portion of the Southwest 1/4 of the Northwest 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4 of
<br />Section 18, Township 2 South, Range 4 West, SBB&M, and more particularly described in a deed and certi-
<br />ficate of title to come from the Security Title Insurance Company, from Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Stephenson
<br />for a total purchase price and consideration of $4,000.00, plus usual buyer's charges, plus $50.00 for
<br />an appraisal, said purchase price to be paid from current utility funds, be, and the same is hereby
<br />approved, consent being given for the President of the Board of Public Utilities and/or the Secretary
<br />to enter and sign escrow proceedings for same at the Security Title Insurance Company.

<br />Ayes: Councilmen Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Chamberlain, seconded by Councilman Goodspeed, and duly car-
<br />ried, that in consideration of the report submitted by the General Manager of the Electric Light and
<br />Water Departments in connection therewith, this day received and filed, the City Attorney be, and he
<br />is hereby authorized to prepare the necessary contract with Albert A. Webb Associates for engineering
<br />services relative to the preparation of plans and specifications for the 42 inch water main from the
<br />Linden Reservoir to Park Avenue on the cost basis heretofore submitted.

<br />10:00 o'clock A. M. --- The City Clerk reported that this was the time and place fixed
<br />for the further hearing on the written report heretofore filed by the City Engineer in the matter of
<br />the proposed improvement consisting of the construction and installation of combination concrete curb
<br />and gutter, double gutter, and appurtenant work, in Thornton Street Improvement District, pursuant to
<br />the provisions of the "Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931,"
<br />being Division 4 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, and it appearing that
<br />the property owners have agreed to enter into a contract with C. 0. Brand, General Contractor, to have
<br />said work done by private contract; therefore, it was moved by Councilman Chamberlain, seconded by
<br />Councilman O'Neill, and duly carried, that said proceedings be, and the same are hereby abandoned.
