<br />Present: Mayor Dales, presiding; Councilmen Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill,_' Roll Call

<br />Smutz, and Voris; Acting City Manager Pierson, City Attorney Ford; and City Clerk Waite.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Smutz, seconded by Councilman Goodspeed, and duly carried, Matter re:
<br />tree removals
<br />that in consideration of the request of C. 0. Brand, the project involving the removal of several trees
<br />Thornton St.
<br />from the north side of Thornton Street that are in the way of curb and gutter installation, to be done
<br />under the provisions of the Improvement Act of 1911, be removed from the policy established by the
<br />Council that trees that stand in the way of curb and gutter installations be not moved at City expense,
<br />and that the minute action entered on Tuesday, June 23, 1953, granting permission to C. 0. Brand to
<br />remove said trees at his own expense, be, and the same is hereby rescinded, said trees to be removed by
<br />the Street Department at City expense, and an appropriation to cover the cost thereof, is hereby ap-
<br />proved and authorized.
<br />This motion carried by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Councilmen Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris.
<br />Noes: None.
<br />Absent: Councilman Backstrand.

<br />that the City of Riverside furnish the material consisting of approximately three yards of cement to of cement -
<br />be installed by C. 0. Brand along the Hamner property on Charles Street, which property is located on Hamner
<br />property
<br />the northwest corner of Charles Street and La Cadena Drive.
<br />This motion carried by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Councilmen Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris.

<br />that pursuant to the recommendation of the Board of Public Utilities, the purchase by the Water Depart -
<br />approved
<br />ment from the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company of 35,000 feet of 6 inch and 5,000 feet of 4 inch
<br />Class 150 Super-deLavaud Centrifugal Cast Iron Pipe for use in the proposed subdivisions now pending,
<br />at a purchase price of $60,055.00, be, and the same is hereby approved.
