CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />COUNClLMEMBERS <br /> <br />Minutes of: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br />Date of Meeting: <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />2 p.m. <br />Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall <br />April 27, 2004 <br /> <br />WARDS <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Mary Shelton spoke regarding the personnel grievance of Al Kennedy. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSIONS <br />The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for <br />closed sessions pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with <br />and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning (1) personnel grievance <br />of Al Kennedy v. City of Riverside Police Department; (2) John Sabatello v. <br />City of Riverside WCAB No. 040276; and (3) one case of anticipated <br />litigation. <br /> <br />The Mayor and Councilmembers returned to the Art Pick Council Chamber <br />with all Members present except Councilmember Adams. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSIONS ANNOUNCEMENT <br />City Attorney Priamos announced that in the closed session regarding Al <br />Kennedy v. City of Riverside Police Department, the City Council <br />unanimously authorized its attorneys to file a Writ of Mandate to the Riverside <br />County Superior Court to reverse the arbitrator's decision in Mr. Kennedy's <br />grievance challenging administrative discipline imposed by the Police <br />Department. No further reportable actions were taken. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The City Council recessed at 2:40 p.m. and reconvened at 3:05 p.m. with the <br />Mayor and all Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />WORKSHOP <br /> <br />CODE COMPLIANCE DIVISION STRATEGIC PLAN - CONTINUED TO <br />LATER IN DAY <br />Following discussion and without formal motion, the City Council continued to <br />later in the day the overview of the Code Compliance Division's Strategic <br />Plan.
