This organization has worked extensively in Riverside to develop Draft COI Map A4 Modification. The Alliance
consists of over 21 signatories — organizations and community leaders active in this redistricting cycle. They are the
most active group in this Riverside City redistricting process.
This map maximizes the Voting Rights Act and better aligns with Riverside resident's communities of interest testimony.
Map A4 Modified has four Latino Citizen Voting Age Population majority wards. Compared to other draft maps, A4
Modified has the most Latino CVAP concentrated Riverside neighborhoods like Arlanza, Casablanca, Eastside,
Downtown, Northside in High Latino CVAP wards.
Draft Map A4 Modification upholds the Voting Rights Act and Communities of Interest:
• 4 Latino Citizen Voting Age Population Majority Wards (citizen voting age population 50% +) that includes
Casablanca
Keeps Casablanca in a Majority Latino CVAP Ward and not with Mission Grove & Orange Crest (includes
Ramona neighborhood and parts of Magnolia Center)
• Maintains African American communities of interest (downtown/Eastside/Northside)
• Includes all of North Side Specific Plan area in one ward.
The Fair and Inclusive Redistricting for Municipalities and Political Subdivisions Act (FAIR MAPS Act), requires the city to
comply with the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), and, to the extent practicable, keep communities of interest
together. In order for the City of Riverside to act in good faith, to be inclusive and equitable, we request all redistricting
workshops and public hearings to be held after 6:00 p.m. and that Spanish translation materials and interpreters be
available.
cc Mayor
City Council
Ward Six (pink) (South Arlanza, part of La Sierra, La Sierra South) City Manager
City Clerk
City Attorney
ACMs
