Approve the acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $29,732.28 from the 2021 Patrick <br />Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program from the Bureau of Justice Assistance for the <br />period of April 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023; <br />2. With at least five affirmative votes, and upon receipt of the grant award, authorize the Chief <br />Financial Officer, or designee, to record an increase in estimated revenues and appropriate <br />expenditures in the amount of the grant award in the Grants and Restricted Programs <br />Fund, for the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program; and <br />3. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary grant documents for the <br />Bureau of Justice Assistance, 2021 Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program, <br />including making minor and non -substantive changes. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Bulletproof Vest Partnership Act of 1998, reauthorized in 2000, is an initiative designed to <br />provide critical resources to state and local law enforcement. The purpose of the Act is to save <br />the lives of law enforcement officers by helping states and units of local government and tribal <br />governments to equip their law enforcement officers with armored vests. The City of Riverside <br />has received this award multiple times since 1999, including $5,849.07 in 2020. <br />
