City Spirit Award — Page 2 <br />On The chart below lists citizens recommended for consideration of the award by the Mayor and <br />individual members of the City Council. <br />2016 CITY SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS <br />Mayor Bailey <br />Linda Salinas Thompson <br />Ron Ellis <br />Councilmember Gardner <br />Henry Coil <br />Councilmember Mac Arthur <br />Henry Coil <br />Councilmember Perry <br />Henry Coil <br />Councilmember Melendrez <br />Nancy Melendez <br />On February 14, 2017, the Mayor's Nominating and Screening Committee recommended that <br />the City Council select Henry Coil as recipient of the 2016 City Spirit Award with Mayor Bailey <br />and Members Davis and Gardner voting aye and Member Melendrez voting no. <br />Henry Coil Jr. is a Civil Engineer and holds a law degree. He joined Tilden Coil Constructors in <br />1971 and led the company's transition from a home builder to a well- respected commercial, <br />industrial, and institutional design and construction firm. Major local projects include renovation <br />of the Historic Riverside County Courthouse, renovation and repurposing of the old City Hall to <br />their corporate headquarters, construction of the Riverside Community College District <br />Centennial Plaza including the Coil School of the Arts, most of the Memorials at Riverside <br />National Cemetery, and most of the Memorials on the Main Street Mall. <br />Mr. Coil has been a long time civic leader and philanthropist.
