CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />Minutes of: <br />Date of Meeting: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />September 28, 1999 <br />2 p.m. <br />Council Chamber, City Hall <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge called the City Council meeting to order at 3 p.m. <br /> <br />PARKING, INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOP- <br />MENT AUTHORITIES <br />The City Council recessed for the purpose of sitting as the Parking Authority, the <br />Industrial Development Authority, and the Economic Development Authority. <br /> <br />There being no business to be conducted, the meetings were adjourned; and the body <br />reconvened as the City Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AT 3 P.M. <br /> <br />ZONING CASE CU-039-967 - 3315 FOURTEENTH - APPEAL DENIED <br />3 P.M.--Further hearing was called on the appeal of David Berri, Imperial Stations, <br />Inc., from the decision of the Planning Commission in approving, in part, their <br />request for a revised conditional use permit to allow beer and wine sales and sign <br />variances to allow (1) two 44-square-foot monument signs where one monument sign <br />is permitted; and (2) three building signs totaling approximately 63 square feet where <br />two building signs with a total area of no more than 36 square feet are permitted at a <br />service station with a food mart and a fast food restaurant (under construction) on an <br />approximately .6-acre site at 3315 Fourteenth Street, situated on the noahwest comer <br />of Fourteenth and Mulberry Streets in Zone C-3. The Planning Commission denied <br />their request to allow beer and wine sales and approved variances to allow two <br />maximum 50-square-foot monument signs and a total of three building signs with a <br />combined area of no more than 50 square feet. In conjunction with conditional use <br />permits, the City Council is authorized to grant variances to the Zoning Ordinance as <br />deemed appropriate. The City Council will also consider the determination by the <br />Planning Commission that the proposed project will not have a significant effect on <br />the environment, and that a Negative Declaration be adopted. Tom Hunt, <br />representing Mr. Berri, spoke regarding the project. No protests, written or oral, were <br />presented. Following discussion, the public hearing was officially closed.
