<br />The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of John Richardson representing the
<br />:Riverside Chamber of Commerce, Bobble Mays representing the Arlington Chamber of
<br />,Commerce and Dianne Casey representing ~he La Sierra Chamber of Commerce.

<br /> Mayor Brown presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Councilman Bowers for his dedicated
<br />:sen. ice as Mayor Pro Tempore from july through December, 1980. ,
<br />
<br />'The following items were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate ~o
<br />those items listed on the Consent Calendar and as submitted co the City Council for Motion
<br />consideration with the exception of ~he resignation from the Mayor's Commission on Second

<br />;A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising =hat, on
<br />~December 18, 1980, the Commission, by a vote of 7 ayes to 2 noes, approved subject to
<br />iconditions =he request of Bethel Chapel Corporation, Zoning Case C-25-790 (Revised),
<br />'for a revised conditional use permit co expand the area of the church site from ap-
<br />:proximately .8 co 1.t acres to include an adjacent lot and to utilize the existing
<br />;dwelling and garage on that lot for a caretaker's residence and additional classroom
<br />ispace on property located in =he 8000 block of California Avenue, situated on the
<br />northwesterly side of California Avenue between S~. Paul Place and St. George Place,
<br />in Zone R-1-65 (Residentiai-1 Zone); and decel-mined that the proposal would not have a
<br />significant adverse environmental effect. It was determined that the matter would not
<br />be se~ for public hearing by the City Council.

<br /> ZONING CASE C-18-801 - KINDER-CARE LEARNING CENTF~S, INC. - 5300-5600 BLOCKS VAN BUREN
<br /> A co~unication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on
<br /> December 18, 1980, the Commission, by a vote of 8 ayes to 0 noes, approved subject to
<br /> conditions the request of Kinder-Care Leaning Centers, Inc., Zoning Case C-18-801,
<br /> establish, operate and maintain a day care center for up to 100 children, providing
<br /> full day care for preschool ages and af~er-scho01 care for elementary ages, on a
<br /> portion of a proposed 4½-acre shopping center located in the 5300-5600 blocks of Van
<br /> Buren Boulevard, situated on the easterly side of Van Buren Boulevard opposite Philbin
<br /> Avenue, in Zone C-2 (Restricted Commercial Zone); and determined that the proposal
<br /> would not have a significant adverse environmental effect. It was detel-mined that =he
<br /> matter would not be sec for public hearing by ~he City Council.

<br /> ZONING CASE C-19-80t - CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL - SLY. CORNER ST. LA~1ENCE & LINCOLN
<br /> A communication was presented from ;he City Planning Conmission advising that, on
<br /> December lg, 1980, the Commission, by a vote of 9 ayes =o 0 noes, approved subject to
<br /> conditions the request of the California Highway Patrol, Zoning Case C-19-801, for a
<br /> conditional use permit to establish, operate and maintain a facility consisting of
<br /> offices, vehicle maintenance and parking on approximately 1,8 acres of undeveloped
<br /> propert); situated on the southerly corner of St. La~Tence Street and Lincoln Avenue in
<br /> Zone ~ (}~nufac=uring Park Zone); and determined =hat the proposal would not have a
<br /> significant adverse environmental effect. i~ was determined =hat the matter would not
<br /> be set for public hearing by the City Council.
