Curts, Vice President, <br />T. & S. Development, Inc., relative to the decision of the Board of Administrative Ap- <br />peals and Zoning Adjustment regarding the request of Oasis Irrigation for the following <br />variances to install vail identification si~us on an existing industrial building at <br />6130 Quail Valley Court and to establish a temporary outdoor storage yard on a separate <br />contiguous lot at 6120 Quail Valley Court, situated on the northeast side of Quail Val- <br />ley Court northeasterly of Box Springs Boulevard, in Zones M-1-BP: (A) to allow an ap- <br />proximately six-foot-high chain link fence to enclose a temporary outdoor storage yard <br />at 6120 Quail Valley Court where a six-foot-high solid masonry vail is required; and <br />(B) to alloy an approximately 68-square-foot vail identification sign on the northwest <br />elevation of the existing building at 6130 Quail Valley Court where no such signs are <br />permitted, Zonin~ Case V-116-878. The hearing had been continued from March 8, 1988, to <br />alloy time for Councilmembers to inspect the property. Following a brief discussion, <br />the public hearin~ was officially closed. The City Council granted the appeal, and de- <br />nied Variances (A) and (B). <br /> <br />LEGAL DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br />Mayor Brown announced that the closed session was being advanced from later in the ageu- <br />de, and that the City Council would recess to a closed session pursuant to Government <br />Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with its attorney regarding pending litigation which <br />has been initiated formally and to which the City is a party--the title of the litiga- <br />tion being Southern California Edison Company v. City of Riverside, et el., Los Angeles <br />County Superior Court Case No. C449472. <br /> <br />The Hayor and Members of the City Council recessed to the Conference Room adjoining the <br />Council Chamber. <br /> <br />The Mayor and H~mhers of the City Council returned to the Council Chamber. <br /> <br />Councilman Loveridge was excused at this time. <br /> <br />The City COuncil authorized the Public Utilities Director to execute the Settlement <br />Agreement and Mutual Release by and between the City of Riverside and the City of Ana- <br />helm, and Southern California Edison Company on two suits currently in the Superior <br />Court of the County of Los Angeles, State of California--the cases being Case No. <br />C449472 and Case No. C514655; said settlement, based on the City staff's negotiations, <br />is that the cities will pay Edison $1,125,000, with the City of Riverside's share being <br />41 percent, or $461,250. Further, the City Council authorized the appropriation of the <br />settlement amount from the Unreserved Retained Earnings of the Electric Fund. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />At 3:25 p.m., the City Council recessed; and reconvened at 6:30 p.m., with all Members <br />present. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />Mayor Brown presented a Proclamation proclaiming April 1988 as International Barbershop <br />Harmony Month in the City of Riverside to a barbershop quartet who sang several songs in <br />honor of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Sing- <br />ing in America's 50th anniversary on April 11, 1988--with 1988 being the 34th year o£ ex- <br />istence of the Riverside Chapter. <br /> <br />Mayor Brown presented a Proclamation to coaches Michael Vargas and Robert Guerrero and <br />the Renegades A.Y.S.O. soccer teem, Division 5, for winning the Section One Ares League <br />Fall Championship. <br /> <br />,Motion <br />Second <br />iAll Ayes <br /> <br />Motion <br />Second <br />All Ayes <br /> <br />:X. <br /> <br />x: <br /> <br />73-392 <br /> <br /> <br />
