<br />BID NO. 4240 - WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT SOLIDS HANDLING PROJECT AND PLANT 1 UPGRADE
<br />PROJECT (REBID)
<br />In consideration of the recommendation from the Purchasing Services Manager and the Pub-
<br />lic Works Department, the followin8 bids were accepted for furnishing all labor, materi-
<br />als and equipment for the work of cons=ructinZ the Water ~uality Control Plant Solids
<br />HandliaX Project and Plant 1 UpZrade Project (rabid): Herco Construction En~ineers,
<br />Inc., in the amount of j13,000,O00 for Item I (Solids Handling Project); and Advanco Con-
<br />struttots, Division of Zurn Constructors, Inc., in =he amount of j19,140,000 for Item 2
<br />(Plant 1 UpSfade Project). All other bids wore rejected, and the bonds submitted with
<br />said rejected bids were released from further liability; the City Attorney wee requested
<br />to prepare the necessary contract; and execution of the contract was authorized and di-
<br />rected upon approval by the City Attorney of the required performance bonds. Further, a
<br />written report was submitted from =he City Manager and the Public Works Director, con-
<br />curred in by the Purchasing Services Handget, recommendin8 that the City Council
<br />(1) award a contract to tierco Cons=rut=ion Enginsers, Inc., in the amount of
<br />to construct the Solids Handling Project at the Water Quality Control Plant; (2) award a
<br />contract =o Advanco Constructors, Division of Zurn Constructors, Inc., in the amount of
<br />$19,140,000 to cons=rut= the Plant i UpZrade Project at =he Water Quality Control Plan=;
<br />(3) authorize the expenditure of $1s830sO00 for inspection and contract administration
<br />services for the Solids Iiandlin8 and Plant I Upgrade Projects; and (4) authorize the Hay-
<br />or and City Clerk to execute the Agreement to Furnish Er~ineering Services (Inspection
<br />Services) with John Carollo En~ineers. The recommenda=ions were approved as presented.

<br />BIDS REJECTED - BID NO. 4254 - REPEATER CONTROL SATELLITE VOTING SYSTEM AND TONE REMOTE
<br />REPEATER STATION
<br />In consideration of =he recommendation from ~he Purchasing Services Manager, =he Adminis-
<br />trative Services Department, =he Buildin~ Maintenance Superintendent and the Fire Depart-
<br />ment, all bids received for furnishing the Fire Department, Suppression Division, with a
<br />repeater control satellite voting system and tone remote repeater station (460 MHZ) were
<br />rejected on the basis =hat =he low bid is 84 percent above current budgeted funds; and
<br />permission was given to rabid this requirement with revised specifications to stay with-
<br />in the allocated funds for this equipment.

<br />BID NO. 4263 - BUCHANAN STREET WIDENING ~ESTERLY SIDE, MAGNOLZA TO A.T.& S.F. RAILROAD
<br />In considers=ion of the recommendation from the Purchesin~ Services Manager and the Pub-
<br />lic Works Department, the bid of Bob Britton, Inc., in the amount of ~31,339.92, was ac-
<br />cepted for furnishing all labor, materials and equipment for the work of constructin~
<br />Buchanan Street widening westerly side, Magnolia Avenue Eo the Atchison, Topeka and San-
<br />ta Fe Hailroad. All o~her bids were rejected, and the bonds submitted with said reject-
<br />ed bids were released from further liability; =he City Attorney was requested to prepare
<br />the necessary contract; and execution of the contract was authorized and .directed upon
<br />approval by the City Attorney of ~he required performance bonds.

<br />A written report was submitted from the City Manager and the Administrative Services Di-
<br />rector, concurred in by the Library Director, recommending that the City Council, effec-
<br />tive March 15, 1988, (1) approve the reclassifica~ion of two Plant and Equipment Mechen-
<br />ic positions, salary range 39.3 with five steps (jl,903-$2,313) =o Buildin~ Maintenance
<br />Specialist, salary range 39.3 with five steps (~1,903-~2,313); and (2) approve the re-
<br />vised Job description for the Buildir~ Maintenance Specialist class. The recommenda-
<br />tions were approved as presented.

<br />A written report was submitted from the City Manager and the Assistant Director for Eco-
<br />nomic/Community Development, concurred in by the Development Director, recommending that
<br />the City Council accept and file the status report of the Community Development Block
<br />Grant Program for the period July 1, 1987, through December 31, 1987. The recommenda-
<br />tion was approved as presented.
