CITY OF RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL June 1, 1999 Plan/Zoning consistency hearings for the remaining communities in the City as described in the written staff report, as staff time permits. CITY COUNCIL ZONING/GENERAL PLAN ISSUES 1N ARLINGTON The City Council approved Councilmember Clifford's recommendation for Planning Department staff to give high priority to initiating public hearings to consider new zoning and/or General Plan designations, as appropriate, for the following three problem areas in Arlington: (1) the segment of land on both sides of Van Buren Boulevard between Magnolia Avenue and the Riverside Freeway; (2) land along both sides of Magnolia Avenue west of Roosevelt Street; and (3) the former retail nursery on Van Buren Boulevard adjacent to the Van Buren Drive-In, south of the Riverside Freeway. DISCUSSION CALENDAR DAYTIME LOITERING BY MINORS REGULATIONS - CONTINUED TO LATER IN THE DAY Following discussion and without formal motion, the City Council continued to later in the day consideration of an ordinance to amend Section 9.10.010 of the Riverside Municipal Code by adding a new subsection H regarding daytime loitering by minors to include State law exceptions for not attending school. (See page 84-352). 1999 FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS SHOWS - BID WAIVER RESOLUTION Following discussion, the City Council (I) adopted a resolution waiving the formal bidding procedures as required by Purchasing Resolution No. 17788 and authorized the Purchasing Services Manager to issue a purchase order to Pyro-Spectaculars, Inc. for July 4, 1999, Fireworks Shows at Mr. Rubidoux, La Sierra Park, and the Riverside Sports Complex; and (2) authorized the City Manager or his designee to execute the contract with Pyro-Spectaculars; whereupon, Resolution No. 19491 of the City Council of the City of Riverside, California, Authorizing Waiver of Formal Bidding as Required by Resolution No. 17788 With Respect to Contracting With Pyro Spectaculars, Inc. For the 1999 4th of July Fireworks Displays at Mt. Rubidoux, the Riverside Sports Complex, and La Sierra Park, was presented and adopted.
