., 1r r 1 RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum P U B ! 1 C U I I L I T I E BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: November 19, 2010 ITEM NO: 5 SUBJECT: CASA BLANCA SUBSTATION AWARD OF EQUIPMENT PURCHASE ORDERS WORK ORDER NO. 1016403 ISSUE: Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for the award of purchase orders for an enclosure for electrical and communications equipment, relay and control panel equipment, and one 69 kV circuit switcher. RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board of Public Utilities: 1. Approve the award of a purchase order for an electrical enclosure from Crown Technical Systems, of Fontana, California, in the amount of$269,636; 2. Approve the award of a purchase order for relay and control panel equipment including spare parts from Power Up Controls, Inc., of Garden Grove, California, in the amount of$188,289; and 3. Approve the award of a purchase order for one 69 kV circuit switcher from S&C Electric Company, of Chicago, Illinois in the amount of$57,201. BACKGROUND: On September 17,2010,the Board of Public Utilities(Board)approved Work Order No. 1016403 forthe Casa Blanca Power Project. Work Order No. 1016403 includes purchase order awards for a power transformer, switchgear,and circuit breaker equipment. The Board Memorandum for Work Order 1016403 indicated that staff will return to the Board of Public Utilities for additional approvals for equipment purchases that are required for the Casa Blanca Power Project. Electrical Enclosure Proposals: Proposals were sent to the five major manufacturers of this type of equipment.
