November 19, 2010 <br /> ITEM NO: 4 <br /> SUBJECT: CONDUIT AND STRUCTURES INSTALLATION AT COLLEGE AVENUE <br /> WOF r ORDER NO. 1026945 <br /> ISSUE: <br /> Board of Public Utilities approval is requested for Work Order No. 1026945. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> That the Board of Public Utilities approve the estimated capital expenditure of $95,000 to replace out of <br /> date and deteriorating underground electrical cable and above ground electrical structures, located along <br /> College Avenue in the City of Riverside. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The underground electric system in this area is badly deteriorated and is over 42 years old, and needs to <br /> be replaced. To prevent unplanned outages this project will replace a total of two above ground electrical <br /> structures as well as approximately 1,225 ft of obsolete 15 kV High Molecular Poly Ethylene (HMPE) <br /> insulation cable with our current standard 15 kV underground cable and install new conduit. <br /> All civil and electrical work including trenching, conduits and other infrastructure work will be performed <br /> by a contractor through the competitive bid process. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: <br /> The capital expenditure for the project is estimated to be $95,000, which includes all construction, <br /> contingencies, construction management, inspection and design. Sufficient funds are budgeted and <br /> available for this project in the Cable Replacement Acct No. 6130000-470635. <br /> Prepared by: Stephen H.
