• Chief Moore proudly informed the Board that the Fire Department recently promoted the first female <br />Battalion Chief in Riverside history. <br />• Mr. Moore invited the Board to attend the Fire Departments Employee Service Awards on May 6- 2015 <br />in the Mayor's Ceremonial Room. <br />• Chief Moore informed the Board that the Fire Department recently donated five (5) vehicles to Mexico, <br />Riverside's Sister City. <br />• Board Member Tricia Eibs inquired as to what type of educational background the City requires for a <br />firefighter recruit. Chief Moore responded and indicated that a high school diplom a is required for the <br />position, but many applicants possess an Associate's Degree or higher. <br />2. HR Board Presentation Update — Sonya Dew, Chairperson <br />• Chairperson Sonya Dew updated the Board on the presentation that was presented to City Council in <br />April regarding the Board's Annual Report. Ms. Dew indicated that she informed Council that the Board <br />was in desperate need to fill current vacancies so that the Board could continue to effectively conduct <br />business. Ms. Dew thanked the Human Resources Department for working with the City Clerk's Office <br />to quickly fill two (2) vacancies. <br />3. Human Resources Board Ad -Hoc Committee Report — Alysia Webb <br />• At the direction of Chairperson Sonya Dew, this item was tabled to the June 1, 2015 meeting. <br />4. Classification Update Regarding At -Will Employees— Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Director <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs informed the Board that the Human Resources <br />Department is in the process of analyzing each position to determine which at -will classifications will be <br />converted back to the classified service. <br />• Chairperson Sonya Dew requested that this particular item remain on the Human Resources Board <br />Agenda until this issue has been resolved. Ms. Diederichs committed to keep the Board abreast on this <br />this matter. <br />5. Discussion Regarding the Time /Location of HR Board Meetings — Sonya Dew, Chairperson <br />• Chairperson Sonya Dew opened discussion on the topic of time /location of HR Board meetings. <br />Chairperson Dew inquired and asked if the Board could be more flexible and start the Board meeting at <br />5:00 p.m. to accommodate Board Members that are unable to attend the meeting at 4:00 p.m . <br />• Board Member Tricia Eibs indicated that she would like to keep meeting at 4:00 p.m. <br />• Board Member Rafael Elizalde motioned to change the meeting time to 5:30 p.m. Board Member Elvira <br />DeCuir seconded the motion. Board Members Tricia Eibs, Lawrence Conn and Norman Powell <br />opposed the motion. <br />• Board Member Elvira DeCuir motioned to change the meeting time to 5:00 p.m. Board Member Rafael <br />Elizalde seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />6. Human Resources Director Updates — Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Director <br />• Human Resources Director Brenda Diederichs introduced Sr. Human Resources Analyst Deona Knight <br />and Principal Human Resources Analyst Andrea Russell to the Board. <br />• Ms. Diederichs introduced the Human Resources Department's Employee of the Year, Deisy Ruiz. <br />• Director Diederichs informed the Board that the Human Resources Department is currently utilizing the <br />NeoGov system to streamline recruitment processes. <br />Public Comment Period: <br />• Jason Hunter addressed the Board. <br />7.
