Agenda Items <br />Unexcused Absence: <br />Departmental Presentation — Michael Moore, Fire Chief <br />• Fire Chief Michael Moore provided the Board with a PowerPoint presentation overview of the Fire <br />Department. This included an overview of the department's retention /turnover rate, current workforce, <br />EEO breakdown and sick leave usage. <br />• Chief Moore informed the Board of the department's Fire Explorer Program intended for youth between <br />the ages of 14 -21 who are interested in a fire service career. <br />• Chair Sonya Dew asked Chief Moore what percentage of students graduate from the Fire Explorer <br />Program and continues on in a fire service career. Chief Moore responded and indicated that fifty <br />percent of students remain in fire service. <br />• Board Member Tricia Eibs inquired as to what type of activities are involved with the Fire Explorer <br />Program. Chief Moore responded and indicated that students are expected to assist at events such as <br />the Festival of Lights, roll hoses and participate in ride alongs. Mr. Moore indicated that each participant <br />must also maintain a "C" average at school. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
