<br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<br />Mike Soubirous — CHP Commander/ Small Businessman
<br />As a 4th generation Californian, I've lived and worked in Riverside for
<br />over 30 years. My wife and I raised our daughters here. I am committed
<br />to the community, demonstrated by earning the rank of Eagle Scout and
<br />spending three decades in the California Highway Patrol. I retired in 2011
<br />as Commander of a local station.
<br />My career in the CHP involved helping people during stressful and
<br />dangerous situations. I helped, using a calm and fact - finding approach to
<br />problem solving.
<br />Active in the non - profit community and small businessman, I know the
<br />importance of working together to help people. Working with citizens, I
<br />will set and achieve community priorities that will move Riverside
<br />forward. I have the experience to make the tough decisions.
<br />I will provide the leadership necessary to improve city government —
<br />making it simpler for local businesses to expand and ensuring a safe
<br />school environment for our children.
<br />Riverside needs an independent voice that will speak out for what is best
<br />for our community. I am the best candidate because of my community
<br />service, experience and proven leadership ability.

<br />RON ROSCO HERNANDEZ AGE: 63
<br />OCCUPATION: Retired Peace Officer
<br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<br />My bond with Riverside runs deep. As my parents, myself, and my
<br />children were born and raised here, I am deeply committed to its' welfare
<br />and wish to have a positive impact on its' direction, growth and policies.
<br />I attended Ramona High School and Riverside City College, and am a
<br />graduate of the Police Cadet Program.
<br />As a retired peace officer and youth counselor, with 30 years of service to
<br />my community, I have collaborated with Riverside Police and Probation
<br />Departments and the Department of Child Services. For 10 years, I
<br />coached Riverside Little League Baseball.
<br />In the last few years, I have gained a strong knowledge of our city's
<br />economy and plan to revitalize the budget by stabilizing Riverside's
<br />economic development and Renaissance plan. I stand firmly for a budget
<br />balanced through fiscal responsibility.
<br />My goals include making city government more transparent to the
<br />community. I will fully support police and fire services, and senior and
<br />youth programs. I will work towards a clean city, a balanced city.
<br />I am committed to following the city's mission and community vision. I
<br />view my service as a privilege and an honor, and because of this, I will not
<br />accept a salary.

<br />VALERIE HILL AGE: 61
<br />OCCUPATION: Retired Undersheriff
<br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<br />I have served our community for many years in many capacities. I served
<br />33 years with the Riverside County Sheriffs Department, where I was the
<br />first female in the department's 118 year history to be appointed to the
<br />position of Undersheriff. I serve on the boards of Operation SafeHouse,
<br />Riverside Area Rape Crisis and the Riverside Community College
<br />District Foundation. I am active in the Kiwanis Club, my church and see
<br />the City Council as another opportunity to serve.
<br />I'm running for City Council to strengthen Riverside economically, while
<br />preserving and enhancing the qualities that make Riverside special. It's
<br />critical that we secure Riverside's long -term fiscal health by supporting
<br />local businesses and attracting new ones. I will work tirelessly with our
<br />residents, PTA's, city officials and public safety agencies to make
<br />Riverside even safer.
<br />I believe in common -sense leadership that unites our community as we
<br />confront everyday quality of life issues. I will use my extensive
<br />experience and knowledge to be your voice and champion at City Hall.
<br />I am married, mother of three and grandmother of four with a Bachelors
<br />Degree in Business Management.

<br />OCCUPATION: Director Nonprofit
<br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<br />Upon retirement I founded a nonprofit which provides shoes for those in
<br />need here in Riverside. My Bachelor of Science degree in Business
<br />Administration from CSULB 1993 prepared me for the challenges of
<br />corporate life. I have always been involved with community: I am now the
<br />Neighborhood Watch Captain, a member of Magnolia Area
<br />Neighborhood Alliance, and the Alternate for Ward 3 for Riverside
<br />Neighborhood Partnership. I am a current member of both Rotary
<br />International and TEAM.
<br />I have been President of numerous organizations: Associated Students,
<br />Inc at CSULB with a budget of over $1 million and assets over $3.5
<br />million; President, Association of Human Resources Professionals;
<br />President, Associated Business Students Organizations Council;
<br />President Pi Epsilon Alpha. As well, I have held other positions:
<br />Vice - President, Los Alisos Mobile Home Association; Vice -Chair
<br />University Student Union; Vice - President Alpha Gamma Sigma, and I
<br />have been a college Senator.
<br />My greatest assets include listening, helping others, maintaining budget
<br />controls, training, attention to detail, negotiation, honoring
<br />accomplishments and "getting the job done ". My neighbors say it all,
<br />" Funderburk Works."
