CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR
CITY COUNCIL MEMBER,
CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 2
ANDY MELENDREZ AGE: 59
OCCUPATION: Councilmember 1 Businessman
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
It has been a privilege serving as your Ward 2 City Council Member for
the past 8 years and I look to your continued support. Over my past two
terms we have made significant progress and overcome many
challenges to remain financially secure while improving our quality of life.
I am proud of improvements made on University Avenue by removing
unhealthy businesses, blight, and promoting public safety while
maintaining its integrity and promoting our small businesses.
Improvements to our local parks, protecting open space, promoting the
arts and our historic past are equally important.
I continue to support the UCR Medical School, promote a walkable and
bicycle friendly community, healthy living, and safe neighborhoods.
As we move forward, seeking alternative forms of energy, promoting
sustainable communities, public transportation through rapid transit and
streetcar options, and protecting our water quality are vitally important to
our City's future.
As our school districts and upper educational programs continue to grow
we must continue our partnership to ensure quality educational
opportunities for our entire community.
I will continue my commitment of promoting public safety, quality of life,
educational opportunities, new businesses and will work to maintain a
strong fiscal foundation.
Andy Melendrez
Councilmember
33- 3872 - Ballot Type 2 -1
