M° City Council Memorandum <br /> City �1"Arts&Innovation <br /> TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: DECEMBER 11, 2012 <br /> FROM: FIRE DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 35 <br /> WARDS: ALL <br /> SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AWARD <br /> FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE <br /> GRANT FUNDS - SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for City Council consideration is acceptance of a grant in the amount of $60,392 from <br /> the Fiscal Year 2012 Emergency Management Performance Grant for the Fire Department. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the City Council: <br /> 1. Approve the acceptance of the 2012 Emergency Management Performance Grant award <br /> in the amount of $60,392; <br /> 2. Authorize an increase in revenues in the amount of$60,392 and appropriate expenditures <br /> in the same amount to an account as established by the Finance Department; and <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute all necessary contract documents <br /> between the Riverside County Fire Department — Office of Emergency Services and the <br /> City of Riverside regarding use of grant funds. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The City of Riverside was awarded Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) Emergency <br /> Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds for Fiscal Year 2012 in the amount of $60,392. <br /> The purpose of the EMPG is to assist State and local governments in enhancing and sustaining <br /> all-hazards emergency management capabilities. Local governments have the opportunity to use <br /> EMPG funds to further strengthen their ability to support emergency management mission areas <br /> while simultaneously addressing issues of national concern as identified in the National Priorities <br /> of the National Preparedness Guidelines. <br /> 35-1 <br />
