CWAN'OFF ("rYy p� <br /> Y rØw7'�11JA�� <br /> ;p A , � .� , c � City Council Memorandum <br /> TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: December 11, 2012 <br /> FROM: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 32 <br /> WARDS: ALL <br /> SUBJECT: PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF FURNITURE FOR THE <br /> RECONFIGURATION OF A PORTION OF THE COMMUNITY <br /> DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT THIRD FLOOR OFFICE SPACE <br /> ISSUE: <br /> The issue for City Council consideration is the issuance of a Purchase Order for the purchase <br /> and installation of furniture for the proposed reconfiguration of a portion of the Community <br /> Development Department to accommodate the merger with the former Development <br /> Department. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> That the City Council: <br /> 1) Approve the issuance of a Purchase Order for the purchase and installation of office <br /> furniture in the amount of $64,669.53 to G/M Business Interiors of Riverside, California, in <br /> accordance with Purchasing Resolution 21182, Section 201 (h); and <br /> 2) Approve 10% in change order authority for possible additional furniture and storage <br /> requirements. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> In 2011, Assembly Bills ABx1 26 and ABx1 27 eliminated redevelopment agencies in California. <br /> As a result, the City Manager implemented certain strategic organizational changes that <br /> included merging the Development Department with the Community Development Department <br /> as documented in the 2012/2013 City Manager's Budget Message. <br /> One of my initial actions as Community Development Director was to implement the merger by <br /> blending the Community Development and Development departments into one team focused on <br /> city building and community investment. To that end I have integrated several former <br /> Development Department divisions with the Planning division to create a City Planning & <br /> Reinvestment team integrating city planning, historic preservation, urban design & <br /> neighborhoods and housing & homeless services. In order to maximize results through team <br /> work, Community Development Department staff has worked with G/M Business Interiors to <br /> 32-1 <br />
