Magnolia Underpass Bid No. 6782 — Change Order • Page 2 <br />Roadway Construction <br />The UP Railroad requested that the contractor provide traffic control and road closures during <br />the construction and removal the rail crossings ($127,785). <br />Adjustment to the cost of asphalt paving as allowed under the contract to account for the <br />fluctuation in the cost of oil ($125,000). <br />Testing of soil for contamination, removal and disposal of contaminated soil, including septic <br />tanks and related waste disposal system, and abandonment of test wells ($45,985). <br />Revisions to the irrigation system from overhead spray to a drip system to meet current <br />requirements ($83,250). <br />Requested access changes by private property owners. Additionally, the City directed changes <br />to traffic control to address comments by property owners and motorists ($43,386). <br />Revised medians and parkways for operational safety improvements ($177,000). <br />Sewer irrigation and water line conflicts which were encountered and discovered during <br />construction ($125,863). <br />Miscellaneous revisions to the contract quantities including: curb and gutter; sidewalks; paving; <br />tree removal; expansion of the Department of Motor Vehicles parking lot; and extension of the <br />median curb between Merrill Avenue and Beatty Drive ($174,500). <br />The Purchasing Services Manager concurs with the recommendation above. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no impact to the General Fund. The total increase in change order request is <br />$1,680,051.75, which increases the estimated construction cost to $14,801,582.70. Sufficient funds <br />are available in Account Nos. 9589720 - 440234 and 9589710 - 440301. <br />Prepared by: Thomas J.
