ax nr <br />EkSID1 <br />C IV <br />ei City Council Memorandum <br />Cit �fAlrts Unn ovarion <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: October 4, 2011 <br />FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 26 <br />WARD: 3 <br />SUBJECT: REMOVAL OF PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE ON YELLOWSTONE DRIVE — <br />RESOLUTION <br />ISSUE <br />The issue for City Council consideration is removal of the existing Preferential Parking Zone (PPZ) <br />on both sides of Yellowstone Drive from San Simeon Way to Nelson Street. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Adopt a Resolution to remove the existing "No Parking Between the Hours of 7:00 a.m. to <br />5:00 p.m. of Any Day except Sunday, with Preferential Permit Parking for residents" zone on <br />both sides of Yellowstone Drive from San Simeon Way to Nelson Street; and <br />2. Authorize and direct the Traffic Engineer to revise the specific pages of the Master Parking <br />Schedule necessary to incorporate the amendment and distribute the revised pages to the <br />appropriate personnel with directions to delete the amended pages and insert the revised <br />pages in the appropriate tables. <br />COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />On September 7, 2011, the Parking, Traffic and Streets Commission met to review this matter; eight <br />(8) of nine (9) members were present. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend removal <br />of the existing PPZ on both sides of Yellowstone Drive from San Simeon Way to Nelson Street. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Department received a petition signed by fifty -eight percent (58 %) of residents on <br />both sides of Yellowstone Drive from San Simeon Way to Nelson Street requesting removal of the <br />existing PPZ. Additionally, thirty -three percent (33 %) of homes within this street segment are <br />vacant properties. <br />26 -1 <br />
