ax nr EkSID1 C IV ei City Council Memorandum Cit �fAlrts Unn ovarion TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: October 4, 2011 FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 27 WARDS: 3 and 4 SUBJECT: INSTALLATION OF CLASS II BIKE LANES AND ESTABLISHMENT OF A NO PARKING ANY TIME ZONE AND A TIMED NO PARKING ZONE ON JEFFERSON STREET — RESOLUTION ISSUES: The issues for City Council consideration are: 1) installation of Class II bike lanes on Jefferson Street from Arlington Avenue to Victoria Avenue; 2) establishment of a "No Parking Any Time" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from Evans Street to Victoria Avenue; and 3) establishment of a timed "No Parking" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from California Avenue to Indiana Avenue. RECOMMENDATIONS That the City Council: Approve installation of Class II bike lanes on both sides of Jefferson Street from Arlington Avenue to Victoria Avenue; 2. Adopt a Resolution to: a. Establish a "No Parking Any Time" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from Evans Street to Victoria Avenue; b. Establish a "No Parking Between the Hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from California Avenue to Indiana Avenue; and 3. Authorize and direct the Traffic Engineer to revise the specific pages of the Master Parking Schedule necessary to incorporate the amendment and distribute the revised pages to the appropriate personnel with directions to delete the amended pages and insert the revised pages in the appropriate tables. COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS On September 7, 2011, the Parking, Traffic and Streets (PT &S) Commission met to review a proposal to install Class II bike lanes on Jefferson Street from Arlington Avenue to Victoria Avenue, establish a "No Parking Any Time" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from Evans Street tc Victoria Avenue and to establish a timed "No Parking" zone on both sides of Jefferson Street from 27 -1
