^ ��^"�:t�lt"��: <br />(e� ,f�t�� , City Council Memorandum <br />ity <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: <br />SUBJECT <br />ISSUE: <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: October 11, 2011 <br />ITEM NO: 9 <br />WARD: ALL <br />NOTICED HEARING — REVIEW OF APPLICATION FOR ADDITIONAL <br />AMBULANCE FRANCHISE (MISSION AMBULANCE) <br />The issue before the City Council is consideration of a non - exclusive franchise application from <br />Mission Ambulance for a Non - Emergency Basic Life Support (BLS) and Critical Care Transport <br />(CCT) franchise. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Conduct a public hearing to receive comments relative to Mission Ambulance's request for <br />ambulance franchise; <br />2. Consider the information contained in the attached reports regarding the application for <br />Ambulance Franchise submitted by Mission Ambulance; and <br />3. Deny the granting of an additional franchise to Mission Ambulance at this time in that the <br />public health, safety, welfare, convenience, and necessity do not require the granting of a <br />franchise. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />On September 19, 2011, the Public Safety Committee, consisting of Chair Mac Arthur, Vice Chair <br />Melendrez, and Member Hart, unanimously approved a motion to deny an ambulance franchise to <br />Mission Ambulance at this time finding that the public health, safety, welfare, and convenience do <br />not require the granting of a franchise. <br />9 -1 <br />
