2 1 y4" ;I 41~ R I <br />3 City Council Memorandum <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: June 9, 2009 <br />FROM: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 27 <br />PLANNING DIVISION <br />WARD: 5 <br />SUBJECT: PLANNING CASES P09-0205 (TPMM) AND P09-0206 (VC) - TRAFFIC <br />PATTERN MODIFICATIONS AT THE INTERSECTION OF DUFFERIN AVENUE <br />AND STEWART STREET, AND VACATION OF PORTIONS OF DUFFERIN <br />AVENUE BETWEEN STEWART STREET AND McALLISTER PARKWAY - <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING <br />ISSUE: <br />The City Council is requested to set a public hearing on July 14, 2009 to consider a Traffic <br />Pattern Modification Measure (TPMM) case for proposed modifications to existing traffic <br />patterns on Dufferin Avenue at Stewart Street, and a Street Vacation (VC) case for vacation of <br />portions of Dufferin Avenue, between Stewart Street and McAllister Parkway. Proposed <br />modifications include, but are not limited to the construction of a permanent knuckle at the <br />intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Stewart Street. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the City Council adopt the attached Resolution of Intent to Hold a Public Hearing, to be <br />held on July 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. to consider Planning Cases P09-0205 and P09-0206. <br />COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: <br />On May 7, 2009, the City Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of <br />Planning Cases P09-0205 and P09-0206 by a vote of 5 ayes and 0 noes (4 absent), subject to <br />the conditions of approval. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Please refer to the attached City Planning Commission staff report and draft minutes dated <br />May 7, 2009. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with the adoption of the attached Resolution of Intent to <br />hold a public hearing. Should the requested traffic pattern modification measures and <br />vacation be approved at a duly noticed public hearing, the cost of all physical improvements <br />associated with the project would be borne by the City, at an estimated cost of $80,000. <br />27-1 <br />
