An olrdinance relating to th6 protection of stre. ets and <br />Sidewalks. <br /> <br /> The }.'.ayor and Con, non CoUncil of the City of Riverside do <br /> <br />ordain as <br /> <br /> Section 1. All property owners in the City of Riverside, <br />frontin~ upo. n or adjoining any public.street, lane or alley, <br />are hereby required to keep the sidewalk immediately in front <br />said property and along the side thereof and the space between the <br />curb line and the property line free from dirt, Filth, brush, <br />garbage or rubbish, other than t~e soil or ~eg, etation growing <br />thereon which may be so~n or planted For the purpose of ornamentation, <br />and to keep said sidewalk and said space Free £rom any hole or <br /> <br /> holes or any obstruction dangerous to life or limb, except holes <br /> or excavations caused or made by any person, Firm or corporation <br /> having a right or a franchise for the erection of any pole or poles, <br /> the layin~ of°water pipes, gas pipes or work of a similar character. <br /> <br /> Section g.. It shall be unlawful for any person, usin~ water <br /> <br />for ir~i~tion or other purposes, to run any ~aste ~atar into or <br />upon the public streets or alleys, but each person must care for <br />and dispose of his own waste ~ater, and the Superi~tendent o£ <br />Streets is hereby empo~ered to grant such temporary permits as he <br />'may deem necessary to enable property owners to carry such -aste <br /> <br /> water across the public streets or alleys by means of suitable <br /> <br /> pipes or ~ulverts. All such permits shall be on blanks furnished by <br /> <br /> the Superintendent of Streets, duplicates of which shall be alpha- <br /> bettcall~ filed in his office. Such permits shall recite that the <br /> cit~ reserves the right to, at any time, grade or change the grgde <br /> of said streets and alleys; that such pipes and culverts shall at. all <br /> times be-kept epen-and in good repair by the party interested and that, <br /> if not-~se ~kept in repair, or for any other reason demanded by the <br /> public interest, they shall be removed by the Superintendent <br /> <br /> <br />
