~ J <br /> <br /> (New Series)" ~ <br /> <br /> An ordinance restraining the running at large o£ certain <br />animals and for other purposes relating thereto. <br /> <br /> The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Riverside do <br /> <br />or. dain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person owning <br /> <br />having charge of any horse, mare, gelding, Jack, mule, sheep, hog, <br />goat, cow, calf, steer, bull, or unlicensed dog, te permit any <br />such animal or animals to run at lar.ge at any time wlthin the <br />corporate limits of the City of Riverside, and such animal or <br />animals mentioned as aforesaid, running at large within the corporate <br />limits of said city are hereby saverally defined and declared to be <br />nuisances. <br /> <br /> Section 2. If any such animal shall be found running at large, <br />as aforesaid, it is hereby made the duty of the Chief of Police or <br />any policeman to t-~l:e up and confine the same in the Public Pound, <br />and any person may take up any such animal or animals and empound <br />the same, and no such animal or animals shall be released until <br />tile owner or person entitled to the possession thereof shall pay <br />to the Poundmaster the sum of One Dollar as his fee for taking up <br />or receiving each of said animals, fifty cents of which sum s]mll be <br />paid to the person or persons taking up each of said animals and <br />surrendering them or any of them into the custody of the Poundmaster, <br />and, in.addition thereto, the Poundmaster may charge a snm not to <br />exceed fifty cents a day for each and every day such animal shall be <br />kept by him, as aforesaid, which sum sl~ll also be paid by the owner <br />or. person entitled to the possession thereof. <br /> <br /> Any person or persons who shall leave any animal or animals <br />attached to a vehic~le unhitched or unsecured in any public place <br />in this city, unless some person is left in charge of such animal <br />or animals, shall be considered guilty of allowing such animal <br /> ~'..~ <br />or' animals to run at large, and such unsecured animal or animals <br />shall be considered and treated as running at large, pursuant to <br /> <br /> <br />
