<br />An ordinance relatlng to tho obstructien of streets, Side-
<br />
<br />walkg and other public places, and regulating signs over and
<br />
<br />along tho streets in the City of Riverside.
<br />
<br /> The }~ayor and Common Council of the City of Riverside do
<br />ordain as follows:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. No person, firm or corporation shall leave,
<br />place or cause to be left or placed in or upon any street,
<br />sidewalk, alley or other public plao* in the City of Riverside
<br />
<br />any wagon, cart or vehicle of any kind~ or any wood, lumber,
<br />
<br />timber, iron, stone, mortar, lime, brick, s~nd, earth, casks,
<br />barrels, boxes, provisions, goods, wares, signs, merchandise,
<br />rubbish or waste material of any kl'~d, nor any other obstruction,.
<br />unless the same is being used, placed or left lawfully or in
<br />
<br />accordance with some city ordinance.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. All awnings shall be so constructed t]~t the
<br />frame and canvas covering same shall be at least Six and one-
<br />half feet above the sidewalk and no awning shall be allowed in
<br />the City of Riverside which is covered with wood or ~ron, without
<br />a special permit from the Common Council, revocable at will.

<br /> Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons,
<br />firm or corporation to extend, suspend, erect, place or maintain,
<br />or cause or permit to be extended, suspended, erected,'placed or
<br />maintained, any signboard, sign pos~, or sign device of any
<br />character or bulltttn board, or post or similar device ov~r, along
<br />or upon any public street, sidewalk, alley or place of the City
<br />of Riverside; provided, howeyer, that the provisions hereof shall
<br />not apply to any sigh or sign board wlflch is permanently fastened
<br />against the surface of the buildi~g '~d no portion o~ w~ich is
<br />less than twelYe feet above the surface of the sidewalk or extends
<br />
