CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />DATE: December 1, 1998 <br /> <br />ITEM NO.: 14 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: MAGNOLIA/MARKET CORRIDOR STUDY CHARRETTE <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Magnolia/Market Corridor Study is now in full swing. Four workshops have been conducted covering all seven <br />districts along the Magnolia/Market corridor. The level of public participation thus far has been quite good and the <br />consultant, Mouie and Polyzoides, has developed some preliminary thoughts in response to those workshops. The <br />next scheduled event is the three day charrette on December 3-5. <br /> <br />A charrette is an intensive series of working sessions during which the consultants, City staff and the public join <br />together to develop the essentials of a draft plan. The public is invited to participate in special public sessions <br />during key points in the charrette process. During these session, the consultant team will share "work in progress" <br />and ask for feedback. Those public sessions are scheduled as follows: <br /> <br />Thursday, 12/3:8:30 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. <br />Friday, 12/4: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. <br />Saturday, 12/5:3:00 p.m. ~ 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Charrette overview <br />Review of land use and economic component <br />Review of transportation, landscaping and other components <br /> <br />Since there is a potential for a quorum of council members to be present at these sessions, it is recommended that <br />the City Council meeting be adjourned to these special meetings. If no quorum is present, the meeting will be <br />adjourned to the next special or regular meeting. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />To not invite City Council participation in these public review sessions. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />That the City Council adjourn its December 1, 1998 City Council meeting to Special Meetings to review the <br />Magnolia/Market Corridor Study charrette report on Thursday, December 3, 1998 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. <br />p.m.; Friday, December 4, 1998 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m; and Saturday, December 5, 1998 from 3:00 p.m. to <br />5:00 p.m.. All charrette sessions will be held at the Public Utilities Operations Center at 2911 Adams Street. <br /> <br />14-1 <br /> <br /> <br />
