CITY OF RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: DATE: December 1, 1998 ITEM NO.: 13 SPECIFIC PLAN AMENDMENT CASE SP-003-978 - RANCHO LA SIERRA - SETTING PUBLIC HEARING Background: On November 19, 1998 the City Planning Commission approved an amendment to the Rancho La Sierra Specific Plan. That amendment must now be reviewed at a public hearing before the City Council. Since the City Council has a limited meeting schedule in the month of December, staff is requesting that the Council set the hearing for the amendment for December 15, 1998 at 2:00 p.m.. It is staffs understanding that although the December 15, 1998 Council meeting date does not normally include public hearings, a few items have previously been scheduled for public hearings on this date. Alternatives: Should the item not be scheduled for December 15, 1998, the next available public hearing date before the City Council would be January 5, 1998. This would cause a significant delay in the processing of a residential tract map within the Rancho La Sierra Specific Plan area that has been filed and cannot be acted upon by the Planning Commission until the amendment to the Specific Plan is reviewed and adopted by the City Council. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council set the required public hearing for Case SP-003-978 (Rancho La Sierra Specific Plan) for December 15, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. and direct the City Clerk to send out the required notice of hearing.
