PROVI- sION FOR C0~PENSATi0N F6R OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF T~BE CiTy OF RIVERSIDE. The Mayor and Council of the City of Riverside do ordain Every full time officer and employee of the City 8 may remain away from his employment without foPfeiture of compensa- 9 tion for the following periods of time and under 'the following 10 conditions: II (a) When said officer or employee of the City, through injury 12 or illness, is unable to discharge the duties of his employment. 1~ Illness shall not be construed to mean any injury or illness 15 received by said officer or employee for which said person may 18 receive or be entitled to WorlGnen~s Compensation. 16 (b) Each officer and'employee is entitled to illness leave 17 on the basis of one and one-half (1-1/2) working~days for each 18 calendar month, or fraction thereof, of employment; provided, 19 however, that any officer or employee shall not be entitled to 20 illness leave unless he has served six (6) months of continuous 21 service with the City. The periods of illness leave thus earned 22 and not used may be accumulated until a maximum aggregate~.of 2S ninety (90) days, including prior service illness leave, wh~c~ 24 shall be construed as working days, are available to any officer 26 or employee of the City. 26 (c) When a death occurs in the immediate family of said 27 officer or employee, and for the purpose of this section the 28phrase "i~mediate f~ily" is construed to mean husbaud, wife, ~.~ ......29parent, brother, sister, child, ~ any or either of them, as RIVEE$10£ S0well as grandparent or grandchild; provid(~d, further, however, Slthat in the instance of illness leave occ~sioned by the death S2of a member of the immediate family the period t hereof shall in -1-
