WHEREAS the State of California has recently amended certain provisions of Penal Code Section 326.5 dealing With the regulation of bingo games to authorize the employment of security personnel and the payment of said security personnel from the proceeds of said games; and WHEREAS State law has further been amended to allow for bingo games to be conducted on property whose use is donated to the organization conducting the game; and WHEREAS State law has further been amended to allow the use of up to 20 percent Of the proceeds, or one thousand dollars ($1,000) per month, whichever is less, to.be used for rental of property and overhead; and WHEREAS State law allows local regulation of thc conduct of bingo games; and WHEREAS bingo games are permitted to help finance certain non-profit and charitable causes; and WHEREAS there is a need to promote public confidence in the integrity of bingo games by establishing a procedure for conducting such games which avoids any hint of impropriety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of 'the City of Riverside as follows: Section 1: Subsection (a) of Section 5.60.100 of the Riverside Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: ///
