CITY

OF CARSON

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

VOTE NO ON #2
VOTE YES ON #3

September 23, 1998

Dear Mayor and City Council:

The City of Carson strongly urges you to vote NO on Resolution No. 2 by Desert Mountain
Division in order to preserve and continue the current policy development process as provided by
Annual Conference Resolution No. 3 (Carson Resolution No. 98-076 enclosed). This process is
delineated in Chapter IV of the Policy Manual of the League of California Cities.

City of Carson Resolution No. 3 was disapproved by the Administrative Services Policy Committee
on August 13, 1998 by majority vote. The City of Carson upholds the current policy which provides
adequate checks and balances, reviews and discussions and informed decisions by City Councils,
Regional Divisions, Departments and Policy Committees prior to the annual conference. This
process also applies to the General Resolutions Committee comprised of more than two-thirds
mayors and council members who makes the final recommendation to the General Assembly for its
action. Therefore, "no change in policy development process is necessary as requested by
Desert Mountain's Resolution No. 2."

Remember to vote NO on Resolution No. 2 and vote YES on Carson's Resolution No. 3!

Thank you for your favorable consideration of this request.

Sincerely,

/:a~ A~
/
0

co: Genecal Resolutions Committee Members

Distribution:
Mayor ~-'"
City Council
City Manager
Legal

CITY HALL · 701 EAST CARSON STREET · PO BOX 6234 · CARSON, CALIFORNIA 90749 · (310) 830-76OO
