1 <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />~3 <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />~6 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />~8 <br /> <br />~9 <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br /> 22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />2~ <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 16374 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING WAIVER OF FORMAL <br />BIDDING AS REQUIRED BY RESOLUTION NO. 14797, WITH <br />RESPECT TO THE PURCHASE OF A WANG VS 6 SYSTEM AND <br />RELATED EQUIPMENT FROM WANG FOR THE WORD PROCESSING <br />CENTER. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the City's Word Processing Center is at present <br />equipped with a Wang 0IS 60 with four work stations and two IBM <br />System 6's; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the City has recently been notified by IBM that <br />maintenance on the System 6's will not be available next fiscal <br />year and must therefore be replaced, and since it is important <br />that the entire word processing system be compatible, the <br />Finance Department is again proposing a waiver of formal bidding <br />procedures to purchase a Wang VS 6 and related equipment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the word processing workload has increased <br />greatly in the last several years, and data currently stored on <br />the IBM system 6 will have to be transferred to the Wang system, <br />it is not practical to simply add two additional work stations <br />to the existing system; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the current Wang system is constantly running at <br />85 to 90% of its capacity, which requires more frequent filing <br />off of the system which in turn causes the system to operate <br />slower; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the staff has recommended that the Wang system <br />be upgraded as well as the addition of two Wang work stations to <br />replace the two obsolete IBM System 6 units, for a total cost of <br />~65,952.00; and <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br />RIVERSIDE <br />CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> <br />
