Received at meeting of: CC- Date: 1// /3.----0 7 Item No.: ( Regarding: New Parking Ratios with the GP 2025 for Academic Institutions The GP 2025 proposal recommends: "Parking ratio to be determined by designated Approving or Appeal Authority in conjunction with required land use or development permits, based on the impacts of the particular proposal and similar use in this table. " The Current code for colleges and universities (which in Riverside can only mean CBU or La Sierra University) is "10 parking spaces for every 1 classroom." This is a fair determiner for both CBU and LSU as they are vertically integrated where students move from classroom to classroom and already have their one parking space. The new Zoning Code runs the risk of overburdening the parking requirements on both campuses; campuses which are essentially "self contained" with all their parking needs met on the campuse' s interior. The new code would leave that ratio to an arbitrary decision by the Planning Staff. That uncertainty is too much to put on the CBU & LSU planners today, and in the short/long term future. We request LSU and CBU be exempted from the new proposed Zoning Code for projects they sponsor that are on their main campuses. We request that the parking ratio for academic buildings built at either LSU or CBU be maintained at the current "10 parking spaces for every 1 classroom." Thank you.
