1%0 I Adjourned regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Riverside, held in the Council April 28, 1953 Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, April 28, 19,53, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Present: Mayor Dales, presiding; Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett, Chamberlain, O'Neill, and Roll Call Smutz; Acting City Manager Pierson; City Attorney Ford; and City Clerk Waite. The pledge of allegiance was given to the flag of the United States of America. A prayer was offered by Mayor Dales. Councilmen Goodspeed and Voris entered at this time. The minutes of the meetings of April 20 and 21st) 1953, were read and approved. It was moved by Councilman Backstrand, seconded by Councilman Chamberlain, and duly earl -led, that Dursuant to the request of the United Spanish War Veterans, an appropriation in the sum of $50.00 from the Advertising and Immigration Fund to cover the cost of the annual observance of Memorial Day for the season of 1953, be, and the sam-e- Is hereby approved and authorized. This motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Srmtz and Voris. Noes: None. Absent: None. Salute to the f lag Invocation Councilmen Goodspeed & Voris Minutes Approprlation-,� Memorial Day .It was moved by Councilman Smutz, seconded by Councilman Backstrand, and duly carried, that Proposed amendment to the City Attorney be Instructed to prepare the proper amendment or amendments to Ordinance No. 1259 to Business License provide that the City Manager be given discretion In gfenting permission and waiving the business license Ordinance fee In connection with applications from charitable organizations and other such accredited organizations,: for permission to conduct sales in th3 City of Riverside where the funds are to be used for charitable and cultural activities. This motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved by Councilman Backstrand, seconded by Councilman Chamberlain, and duly carried, that the request of the Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church for a change in date to conduct its Annual Tag Day in the City of Riverside, from A-Dril 22, 1953, to April 28, 19r-3, and a waiver of the business license fee In connection therewith, be granted.
