M. <br /> <br /> Present: Mayor Evans, presiding; Councilmen Rawlings, Fowler, Backstrand~ Patterson, <br />Dmles, Hair, and Crouch; Deputy City Attorney Ford, and City Clerk Waits. <br /> <br /> ~** <br /> <br /> The pledge of allegiance was given to the flag of the United States of America. <br /> <br /> The Lord's Prayer was recited in unison by the assembly. <br /> <br /> -x--X-X- <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meeting of December 26, 1951~ were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Councilman Fowler, seconded by Councilman Hair, and duly caa~ried, IT <br />WAS ORDERED that the report of the Public Safety Committee of the Council and the Traffic Safety <br />Engineer in the matter of extending the loading zone adjacent to Olsan's Ful'niture Store on the west <br />side of Orange Street, between Eighth and Ninth Streets, wherein it is stated that the extension of <br />the limits of any zone of tt~is typo would be contrary to 'the provisions of paragraph 2 of Section <br /> <br />~2 (b) of 0rdtns~lce No. ~83 (New Series), which states "that such a zone may not be more theal 20 feet <br />in le~th"~ be, and the same is hereby approved and accepted. <br /> <br /> This motion carried by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Councilmen Rawlings, Fowler~ Backstrand, Patterson~ Dales, Hair, and Crouch. <br /> None. <br /> <br />~es: <br /> <br />N ce s: <br /> <br />Absent: None. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Councilman Crouch, seconded by Councilman Fowler, and duly ca,tied, iT <br />WAS (I~DER'~ that, p,~'su~t to the reco~endation of the tmblic Safety Committee of the Council and <br />the Traffic S~fety Engineer, the project involving the removal of the brush on Olenwood Drive, south <br />of Fourteenth Street, so as to facilitate the movement of vehicles going opposite directions along <br />this narrow paved surface~ be, and the s~me is hereby authorized and directed to be proceeded with <br />by the Street Department. <br /> <br /> This motion carried by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Councilmen Rawlings, Fowler, Bsckstrand~ Patterson,:Dales, Hair~ and Crouch. <br /> None. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of CounciLman Crouch, seconded by CounciLman Dales, and duly carried, IT <br />WAS C~DERED that~ pursuant to the recommendation of the Public Safety Committee of the Council and <br />the Traffic Safety Engineer, the following projects be, and the same are hereby authorized and di- <br />rected to be proceeded with by the Street Department, in the interest of public safety, we-wit: <br /> <br /> 1. That the shrubbery on the north side of Arlin~ton Avenue <br /> be trLmm~d to the height of 3 feet for a distance of 45 <br /> feet easterly and 60 feet westerly from Valencia Street. <br /> <br /> 2. That the hedge and shrubbery adjacent to the intersection <br /> of Valencia Street and E1 Molino Street, be trimmed to <br /> the height of 3 feet for a distance of 4~ feet both <br /> northerly and southerly from E1 blolino Street on the <br /> east side of Valencia Street. <br /> <br /> 3.
