Adjourned regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Riverside, held in the
<br />Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, September ~, 1951, at 9:00 o'clock A. M.

<br /> Present: Mayor Evans, presiding; Councilmen Rawlings, Fowler, Backstrand, Patterson,
<br />Dales, Hair, and Crouch; City Attorney Dougherty; and C~ty Clerk Waite.
<br />
<br /> The pledge of allegiance was given to the flag of the United States of ~.erica.
<br />
<br /> A prayer was offered by Mayor Evans.
<br />
<br /> The minutes of the meeting of August 28, 1951, were read and approved as amended.
<br />
<br /> In the matter of the traffic congestion on ~,~lberry Street between Seventh and Tenth
<br />Streets, the Chairman of the Public S~fety Committee ~ubmitted an oral report stating that a check had
<br />been completed hy the Police Department, and that the Committee had no recommendmtions to make at this
<br />time; whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Hair, seconded by Councilman Dales, and duly carried, that
<br />
<br />the report be, and the same is hereby approved and accepted.

<br /> Upon motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by Councllm-n Fowler, and duly carried,
<br />IT WAS ORDERED that, pursuant to the recommendation of the City Building Inspector, as contained in
<br />his conm~.%nication of Aug~st 29, 19D1, this day received and filed, a refund to M~s. M~rigold Gulick,
<br />Route 1 Box 9, Carmel, California, in the amount of $12.O0 on Building Permit No. 13636 issued to her
<br />by the City Building Eepartment on Aug~st 8, 1951, be, and the same is hereby approved and authorized,
<br />
<br />it appearing that the applicant is unable to build at this time.
<br /> This motion carried by the following vote:

<br /> Ayes: Councilmen Rawlings, Fowler, Backstrand, Patterson, Dales, Hair, ~nd Crouch.

<br /> Upon motion of Council~m-n Patterson, seconded by Councilman Hair, and duly carFied~ IT
<br />WAS ORDERED that, p~u'suant to the recommendation of the City Building Inspector, as contained in his
<br />communication of August 29, 1951, this day received and filed, a refund to Burl L. Thurman, 11475 Bavte
<br />Street, Sunnymead, California, in the amount of $2.50., being a 90~ refund of Gas Appliance Fltter'a
<br />examination fee, Department of Building and Plumbing Receipt No. 1899, issued to said applicant by the
<br />Building Iepartment on July 2, 19D1, be, and the same is hereby approved and authorized, it appearing
<br />that Um. Thurman failed to pass the examination.
