MEMORANDUM

CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

RE:

All City Board and Commission Chairpersons

Gregory P. Priamos, City Attorney

November 10, 2005

Code of Ethics and Conduct; Our File No. CA04-2823.2

As you are aware, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 20986 on July 12, 2005, thereby
adopting a Code of Ethics and Conduct for elected officials and members of appointed boards,
commissions and committees. Section III A, requires that all boards and commissions adopt
rules of procedure which include the provisions of the Ethics Code.

It is therefore necessary that all boards and commissions amend their standing rules or by-
laws to include the provisions of the Ethics Code. For example, a board's or commission's
rules or by-laws may be amended to simply include the following provision:

Members shall be subject to ali applicable local, state, and federal laws
and codes of ethics adopted by the City Council.

Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me
directly.

· Pdamos
ey

C:

Bradley J.
