Adjourned regular meeting of the M~yor and City Council of the City of Riverside, held

<br /> in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, Augl~st 3, 1954, at 9:00 o'clock A. M.
<br />
<br /> Present: Mayor Dales, presiding, Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed,
<br /> O'Neill, Smutz and Voris; City Manager King, City Attorney Ford and City Clerk Waite.
<br />
<br /> The pledge of allegiance was given to the flag of the United States of America.
<br />
<br /> A prayer was offered by Mayor ~ales.
<br />
<br /> The minutes of the meeting of July 27, 1954, were read and approved, as ,mended.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilm~n Goodspeed, seconded by Councilman Smutz, and duly carried,
<br />
<br />that the various documents presented by Virginia Lee Wllll~mson, 3658 Monroe S~reet, Riverside, and
<br />others, relating to the operations of the Swiss Dairy, said documents consisting of photostatic copies
<br />of the three chattel mortgages, signed statements of W. G. Nethery, Frank E. Thayer and George Morrill,
<br />list of live stock and milk container capacities and typed list of equipment on Swiss Dairy premises
<br />as of M.~rch 18, 1941, be, and the same are hereby, referred to the City Manage]~ and ~ity Attorney for
<br />study and recommendation.
<br />
<br /> The City Manager presented a proposed ordinance of the City of Riverside, California, for
<br />study by the City Council, providing for the administrative service, its organization and major functions
<br />thereof.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Ooodspeed, seconded by Councilmnn Bonnebt, and duly carried,
<br />that, in consideration of the recommendation of the City Manager, authorization is hereby given to move
<br />the partition entering into the Controller's Office to a point near the door leading into the present
<br />Mayor's Office to afford space for the Centralized Purchasing Department, the estimated cost being in
<br />
<br />the amount of $1,975.00, which is provided under the 1954-5Q budget for City Hall remodeling.
<br /> This motion carried by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> Ayes: Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett, Chamberlain, Goodspeed, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris.
<br /> Nos s: None.
<br /> Absent: None.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Goodspeed, seconded by Councilman Smutz, and duly carried,
<br />that, in consideration of the recommendation of the City Manager and the Piano Committee heretofore
<br />appointed to study the matter, the bid of Penny-Owsley Music Company of Los Angeles to furnish one new
<br />Steinway Concert Grand Piano, Model "D", Ebony finish, including bench and cover, for use at the Municipal
<br />Auditorium, at a purchase price of $6,077.00, including State S~les Tax, be, and the same i~ hereby,
<br />accepted as being the best bid received, and all other bids are hereby ordered rejected, and the checks
