January 7, 1958 <br /> <br />The Mayor thereupon declared the motion not to have carried for lack of a majority vote. <br />It was then moved by Councilrr~n Smutz, seconded by Counci]m'=an Backstrand, and duly car- <br />ried~ that the City b~nager's report be approved, and that he be requested to notify the County of <br /> <br />Riverside that the City Council feels that the ~tter is the responsibility of the County. <br /> This motion carried by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: CounciLmen Backstrand, Bergin, Bennett, Johnson, O'Neill, S~m~tz and Voris. <br /> Noes: None. <br /> Absent: None. <br /> <br /> A reco~m.endation was presented from the Park and Recreation Co~nission, that a lease be i Rjr.Racing <br /> i Assn. <br />approved for 12 racing dates for the Riverside Racing Association at De Anza Park, and that another <br /> De Anza Park <br />lease be approved for 8 racing dates for motorcycles for the Junior Chamber of Commerce at De Anza Park, <br /> <br />as follows: March 16, April, 13; May ll, June 15, August 24, September 14, October 12 and November 9, <br />1958; no racing to be held on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958; and no racing on ~.~y 17-18, 1958, as the <br />track is leased for the Sheri£f's Rodeo; rental to be $100.00 per day for both leases; and that provisions <br />be allowed for rain dates; the dates of races by the Racing Association to be set by a letter to the <br />Park Department, with a copy to be sent to the City ~.~nager, at least 7 days prior to any racing date. <br />Written and oral protests of property owners in the vicinity of De Anza Park, objecting to automobile <br />and motorcycle racing at the Park, were presented; and following a discussion of the matter, it was <br />moved by Councilm.~an Smutz, seconded by Councilman Backstrand, and duly carried, that the City Attorney <br />be, and he is hereby, authorized and inst~nlcted to prepare the leases in accordance with the recom.~menda- <br />tions of the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> This motion carried by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Councilmen Backstrand, Bonnett~ Johnson~ O'Neill and S~tz. <br /> Noeo: Councilmen Bergin and Voris <br /> Absent: None. <br /> <br />10:00 o'clock A.M. --- This being the time and place fixed pursuant to statute and notice Assessment <br /> hearing <br />given in the matter of assessment designated Assessment No. 442, for the constl~ction of cement concrete <br /> Assessment <br />curbs and gutters ill Mathews Street Improvement District, pursuant to the provisions of the Improvement No. 442 <br /> iconfirmed <br />Act of 1911, being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, as contemplated i <br /> !.;athews St. <br /> <br />by Resohtion of Intention No. 7811, adopted on July 9, 1957; and the City Clerk having info~w, ed the <br /> <br />City Council that the Affidavits of Posting and the publication of the "Notice of Filing of Assessment" <br />were on file in his office prior to the date set for the hearing; and the Mayor having inquired if there <br />were any interested persons present desiring to be heard in the matter~ the City Clerk stated that he had <br />received written protests; and after all protests had been presented and considered, it was moved by <br />Council_,:~n Johnson, seconded by Council,nan Bonnett~ and duly carried, that all protests be overn~led, that <br />the hearing be officially closed; and that Resolution No. 8034 of the City Council of the City of River' <br />side, California, confirming Assessment No. 442, amounting to $4,996.37, composed of contract cost of <br /> <br />$4,026.57 and incidental expenses of ~ s ' <br /> 99~9.80, levied in said matter, De, and the same is hereby, adopted. <br /> <br /> This motion carried by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Counci3J~n Backstrand, Bergin, Bennett, Johnson, O'Neill, Smutz and Voris. <br /> <br /> Hone. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />['foes: <br /> <br />Absent: ;[one. <br /> <br />Impr.
