AL~ORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO EXPAND THE BOUNDARIES <br /> OF AND LEVY AN ANNUAL ASSESSMENT IN THE DOWNTOWN PARKING <br /> AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2006 <br /> PURSUANT TO SECTION 36534 OF THE CALIFORNIA STREETS AND <br /> HIGHWAYS CODE, GENERALLY DESCRIBING THE IMPROVEMENTS AND <br /> ACTIVITIES TO BE UNDERTAKEN AND FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR <br /> A PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE GITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE ON THE LEVY OF THE PROPOSED ASSESSMENT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverside received and approved the report of the <br />Riverside Downtown Partnership, acting as the advisory board of the Downtown Parking and Business <br />and Improvement Area, for the calendar year of 2005. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />California, pursuant to Section 36534 of the Streets & Highways Code as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. It is the intention of the City Council to levy and collect within the Downtown <br />Parking and Business Improvement Area for the calendar year beginning January l, 2006, at a rate not <br />to exceed the current rate of 100% of the Business Tax charge. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is the further intention ofthe City Council to expand the boundaries ofthe Parking <br />and Business Improvement Area in the Downtown Area of the City of Riverside to include both sides <br />of Market Street, from First Street to the 60 Freeway, as indicated on the map attached hereto as <br />Exhibit A. <br /> <br /> Section 3. The Parking and Business Improvement Area in the Downtown Area of the City of <br />Riverside was established by Ordinance No. 5303 to (a) engage in seasonal retail promotions, <br />(b) beautification and parking projects, and (c) general promotion of business activities. <br /> <br /> Section 4. The Parking and Business Improvement Area for the Downtown Area is located in <br />the downtown business area of the City of Riverside, and is described as generally between First Street <br />on the north, the 14th Street on the south, past the Riverside/91 Freeway to the railroad tracks on the <br />east, and the first tier of lots on the west side of Brockton Avenue on the west, except that between <br />Ninth Street and Sixth Street the easterly boundary shall be the Riverside Water Company Canal.
