C~ Evans was appointed to represent <br />~he City of Riverside and vote the 1~276 shares of capital <br />stock in the Gage Canal Company~ at the Annual Meeting to <br />10e held on January 8, 1963~ at g~OO P~M~, at the Elks <br />Clubhouse, 6166 Brockton Avenue~ <br /> <br />Oouncilman O'Neill entered at this time~ <br /> <br />Further discussion was called on Tentative Subdivision <br />Tract 2475 which would conflict with the engineered align- <br />ment of Arlington Avenue Extension. A con~munication was <br />presented from Alexander B~ Yakutis~ Attorney at Law: rep- <br />resenting L, W~ Flahive and Irving I)udley~ calling atten- <br />tion to the fact that i~ appeal had been made by the <br />property owners involved, and requested that the matter <br />be taken off the agenda and the file returned to the Plan- <br />ning Com~issiono Following discussion~ motion was made <br />bhat the file be closed and the matter returned back to <br />the Planning Co~mission~ <br /> <br />The City Attorney presented a written report and recom- <br />mended wording of an amended Section 401 of the City <br />Charter to clarify the right of residents of annexed areas <br />to become candidates for the office of Mayor or City Coun- <br />cilman. Following discussion with interested persons <br /> <br />ment on the April 9~ 1963 General Municipal Election <br /> <br />The City Attorney also presented a reco~mmendation on a <br />proposed minor amen~ent to Section 1603 of the City Char- <br />'her which is incon~isten~ with Section 401~ to eliminate <br />"voteF' or '!qualified voter" as a condition precendent to <br />holding council office under the ward system: Following <br />discussion, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare <br />the necessary documents to place the proposed Charter <br />amendment on the April 9~ 1~63 General Municipal Election <br /> <br />The City Attorney presented a written report on a requested~ <br />Grdlnance to be placed on the April 9~ 1963 General Muni- <br />cipal Election Ballot~ relating to city-wide election on <br />inhabited annexations.
