CITY OF R'-7ERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />COUN£ MEMBERS <br /> <br />Minutes of.' <br />Date of Meeting: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />August I 1, 1998 <br />9 a.m. <br />Council Chamber, City Hall <br /> <br />WARDS <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Defenbaugh. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the Meeting of July 28, 1998, were approved as presented; with <br />Councilmember Clifford abstaining as he was vacationing out of State with his <br />family at the time and was not in attendance. <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge spoke on the passing of Harvey Oster, a combat, news and <br />commercial photographer, who also served on the City Council representing Ward 7 <br />in 1974. The Mayor and City Council observed a moment of silence in memory of <br />Mr. Oster. <br /> <br />The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for <br />consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to <br />each item. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />ZONING CASE CU-027-667 (REV.) - 8432 MAGNOLIA <br />The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in approving <br />subject to conditions the request of Cole & Frick Architects, Inc., representing <br />California Baptist College, for a revised conditional use permit to establish a 4,500- <br />square-foot temporary modular office building to accommodate student services on <br />a site in the middle of the approximately 75-acre college campus at 8432 Magnolia <br />Avenue situated between Magnolia and Diana Avenues northeasterly of Monroe <br />Street, in Zone R-1-65; upheld the Commission's determination that the proposal <br />would not have a significant effect on the environment; concurred in the adoption of <br />the Negative Declaration; and found there is no evidence that the proposed project <br />will have any potential for adverse effect on wildlife resoumes and the impacts of <br />the project are found to be de minimis pursuant to Section 711.4 of the Fish and <br />Game Code. <br /> <br />BOARD OF ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS AND ZONING ADJUSTMENT <br /> <br />VARIANCE CASE VR-001-989 - 6155 MAGNOLIA <br />The City Council upheld the Board of Administrative Appeals and Zoning Adjust- <br />ment's action in approving subject to conditions the proposal of Dennis C. Mackey <br />on behalf of Wells Fargo Bank to locate a building sign on a Ralphs Supermarket <br />located at 6155 Magnolia Avenue, situated on the westerly side of Magnolia <br />Avenue southerly of Jurupa Avenue in Zone C-3-S-2-X.
