1 RESOLUTION NO. 18176 <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING WAIVER OF <br />3 FORMAL BIDDING AS REQUIRED BY RESOLUTION NO. 17788 <br /> WITH RESPECT TO THE PURCHASE FROM MOTOROLA, INC. <br />~ OF MOBILE DATA TERMINALS FOR POLICE VEHICLES. <br />5 WHEREAS the Police Department has begun integrating <br />6 Mobile Data Terminals into police vehicles in order to provide a <br />? more efficient, cost effective means of dispatching calls for <br />8 service to police personnel; and <br />9 WHEREAS these terminals will ultimately reduce the need <br />10 for additional radio frequencies and possibly the need for <br />11 additional dispatchers; and <br />12 WHEREAS the Police Department desires to install ten <br />13 terminals in supervisory cars so that the activities of their <br />14 personnel can be more effectively monitored; and <br />15 WHEREAS Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's) are the only brand <br />16 of terminals manufactured that will function on the system in <br />17 use by the Riverside Police Department; and <br />18 WHEREAS waiving the formal bidding procedure is <br />19 necessitated by the need for compatibility and accurate transfer <br />20 of data and will allow the City to purchase the MDT's from <br />21 Motorola, Inc. at an estimated cost of ~50,350; <br />22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of <br />23 the City of Riverside that the bidding requirements of <br />24 Resolution No. 17788 of the City of Riverside are hereby waived <br />25 and authorization is hereby given for the Purchasing Services <br />26 Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Motorola, Inc. for the <br />27 purchase of ten Mobile Data Terminals for the Police Department <br />ATTORNEY <br />RIVERSIDE <br />A <br /> <br /> <br />
