1 RESOLUTION NO. ]8]72 <br /> <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN APPLICATIO~ <br />3 FOR GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE SMALL BUSINESS <br /> ADMINISTRATION TREE PLANTING PROGRAM FOR THE <br />4 PROPOSED ~GNOLIA AVENUE/LA SIERRA AVENUE TREE <br /> PLANTING PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF SAI~D <br />5 APPLICATION WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF <br /> FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION; ACCEPTING SAID <br />6 GRANT; AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE <br /> CONTRACT FOR SAID GRANT. <br />? <br />8 WHEREAS the Small Business Administration (SBA)under <br />9 the provisions of Section 651 of Title 15 of the United States <br />10 Code is authorized to make grants or to enter into contracts <br />11 with any State for the purpose of contracting with small <br />12 businesses to plant trees on land owned or contributed by such <br />13 State or local government; and <br />14 WHEREAS the California Department of Forestry and Fire <br />15 Protection (CDF) administers this program within the State of <br />16 California; and <br />17 WHEREAS CDF is now accepting applications from state or <br />18 local government agencies for various tree planting projects; and <br />19 WHEREAS applicants are expected to make at least a 37 <br />20 percent match of the grant amount, which match, or in-kind <br />21 contribution, can include the costs associated with planning and <br />22 administering the planting project as well as maintaining and <br />23 caring for the trees during this three-year maintenance project; <br />24 and <br />25 WHEREAS the City of Riverside is qualified and wishes to <br />26 participate in the SBA Tree Planting Program and receive a <br />2? subgrant from CDF in the amount of ~55,000 for its Magnolia <br />ATTORNEY <br />RIVERSIDE <br />CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> <br />
