CITY OF RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBERS Minutes of: Time of Meeting: Place of Meeting: Date of Meeting: Regular Meeting of the City Council 11 a.m. Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall August 10, 2004 WARDS Roll Call: WORKSHOP/LUNCHEON EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONS BETWEEN MAYOR, CITY COUNCIL, CITY MANAGER The luncheon/workshop relative to effective communications and working relations between the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager was not held. In the absence of Mayor Loveridge, Mayor Pro Tempore Gage called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. with all Councilmembers present except Councilmember Adkison. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE There were no comments presented at this time. CLOSED SESSIONS - CONTINUED IN PART The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for closed sessions pursuant to Government Code (1) §54956.8 to instruct the City's Negotiator, George A. Caravalho, regarding price and terms of payment for the purchase, sale, exchange, or lease of 3460 Orange Street by Robert Norton, Negotiator; (2) §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning Paulus Engineering, Inc., v. City of Riverside - Orange County Superior Court Case No. 04CC07323; (3) §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning one case of anticipated litigation; (4) §54957.6 to review the City Council's position and instruct designated representatives regarding salaries, salary schedules, or compensation paid in the form of fringe benefits for all Executive Management, Management, and Confidential employees, as defined by PERS; and (5) §54957.6 to review the City Council's position and instruct designated representatives regarding salaries, salary schedules, or compensation paid in the form of fringe benefits for Fire Management Unit, Riverside City Firefighter's Association, Riverside Police Officers Association (Police and Police Supervisory Units), Service Employees International Union, Service Employees International Union-Refuse, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The closed sessions pursuant to (1)§54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning Mark McEIroy, et al. v. City of Riverside, et al. - RCSC Case No. RIC 396658; (2) §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning Community Health Corporation, etc. v. City of Riverside, et al. - RCSC Case No. RIC 402032; and (3) §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning Anthony D. Dowdy, et al. v. City of Riverside, et al. - USDC Case No. ED CV04-0095RT (AJWx); were continued to August 24, 2004. Present 90-49
