BOWLING GREEN MAINTENANCE TASKS <br /> <br /> Mowin~ - Mowing will take place a minimum of three (3) times per week <br /> at a height between 1/16 and 1~8 inch, alternating the direction of mowing <br /> each time. The mower is used at slow speed with a minimum amount of pressure <br /> applied to the mower handle. The mower is to be de-clutched when turning to <br /> prevent gouging. Mowing is to be at 45° angles to the greens gutters, over- <br /> lapping each previous cut by 50 percent. The grass catcher is to be emptied <br /> when clippings reach a depth of 2 to 3 inches. The mower is never to be <br /> allowed to ride on the greens gutter rail. <br /> <br />2. Greens Gutters - Greens gutters are to be raked and leveled with a leaf <br /> rake on an as needed basis. <br /> <br />3. Weed Control - Weed control will be by chemical application of herbicides <br /> with the type and frequency to be determined by the Park Supervisor. The <br /> Greens Chairman will be notified as to the type of material to be applied <br /> 'prior to application. , <br /> <br />4. Insect and Fungus Control - Chemical application for insect and fungus con- <br /> trol will be determined by the Park Supervisor as to the type and frequency. <br /> The Greens Chairman will be notified as to the type of material to be applied <br /> prior to application. <br /> <br /> 5. Irrigation Prdcedures Irrigation requirements will be determined with <br /> the use of a tensiometer provided by the Bowling Green Club. A sufficient <br /> number of readings are to be initially made by the greenskeeper and Park <br /> Supervisor to determine the watering characteristics of the irrigation sys- <br /> tems. Watering frequencies will be logged and maintained by the greenskeeper <br /> and will be available for review by the Greens Chairman. <br /> <br />6. Fertilization - Each green will be fertilized wi than inorganic fertili- <br /> zer at the rate of 1 lb. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per month. The NPK <br /> ratio should be 4:1:2. Type of fertilizer to be applied will be determined <br /> by the Park Supervisor. The Greens Chairman shall be notified prior to each <br /> application. <br /> <br />7. Aerification - Greens will be aerified using an aerifier with 1/2 inch <br /> tynes. Plugs will be removed and holes backfilled with sand which has 80 <br /> percent or more of its particles being 0.15 to 0.5 mm in diameter, U.S. sieve <br /> ~55. Frequency will be determined by the Park Supervisor and Greens Chair- <br /> man. <br /> <br />8. Renovate/Verticut - The machines depth and spacing will be det~mined by <br /> the Park Supervisor and Greens Chairman. Verticutting is to be at 45° angles <br /> to the greens gutter, ove~apping by one half on each pass. This is to be <br /> repeated at the opposite corners. The green is to be fertilized with an <br /> inorganic fertilizer approved by the Park Supervisor and is to be watered in <br /> by hand to dissolve the fertilizer pellets.. Frequency will be determined by <br /> the Park Supervisor and Greens Chairman. <br /> <br /> <br />
