(CORRECTED) <br /> <br /> 1 RESOLUTION NO. 18426 <br /> 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING CALIFORNIANS FOR <br /> 3 PARKS AND WILDLIFE BOND ACT OF 1994 (CALPAW 94) , <br /> RIVERSIDE COUNTY REGIONAL PARK AND OPEN-SPACE <br /> 4 DISTRICT. <br /> 5 WHEREAS the City of Riverside, California, finds that <br /> 6 providing park and recreation services is of vital environmental, <br /> <br />7 social and economic interest to the citizens of our community; <br />8 and <br />9 WHEREAS a coalition of community and consersation groups, <br />10 business and labor, historic preservation and other organizations <br />11 have undertaken a volunteer, community based effort to place a <br />12 park, recreation and wildlife General Obligation Bond Act on the <br />13 June, 1994 ballot; and <br />14 WHEREAS the bond act will provide needed facilities for <br />15 the enhancement of our community, including urban forestry, park <br />16 and recreation facilities, historic preservation, and a wide <br />17 variety of other programs; and <br />18 WHEREAS CALPAW 94 includes funding for at-risk youth <br />19 facilities, in order to reduce crime, drug activity, and gang <br />20 violence in our community; and <br />21 WHEREAS the City of Riverside will receive an estimated <br />22 $2,892,000 for development of park and recreation facilities if <br />23 CALPAW 94 is approved by the voters; and <br />24 WHEREAS thousands of jobs will be created with passage of <br />25 this bond; <br />26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of <br />27 the City of Riverside endorses the CALPAW 94 initiative and also <br />Attorney's Office <br />Street <br />CA 92522 <br />782-5567 <br /> F: ~WPDATA\RES~ 94021701.
