<br />ABSENT: None
<br />Chair Oceguera called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m.
<br />Vice Chair Goldware led the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
<br />There was no one wishing to address the Board of Public Utilities.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING
<br />RENEWAL OF THE TEN-YEAR WATER CONSERVATION SURCHARGE - RESOLUTION
<br />Hearing was called to engage the community and receive input related to the renewal of a
<br />ten-year 1.5 percent Water Conservation Surcharge applied to all Riverside Public Utilities
<br />(RPR) water customer accounts. Two people spoke regarding the matter. The public hearing
<br />was officially closed.
<br />The Deputy City Clerk announced there were 23 written protests received and a majority
<br />protest was not reached.
<br />Following discussion, it was moved by Board Member Wohlgemuth and seconded by Board
<br />Member Melendez to (1) adopt a resolution of the ten-year Water Conservation Surcharge
<br />as described in the resolution; (2) recommend City Council (a) approve the renewal of the
<br />Water Conservation Surcharge applicable to all RPU water customers, effective through the
<br />ten years thereafter; and (b) adopt a resolution establishing the revised Schedules WA -1A,
<br />WA -1 B, WA -2, WA -3, WA -4, WA -5, WA -6, WA -7, WA -8, WA -9, WA -10, WA -1 1, and WA -12
<br />effective upon Council approval through ten years thereafter. The motion carried with Chair
<br />Oceguera, Vice Chair Goldware and Members Crohn, Heru, Melendez, Siana, and
<br />Wohlgemuth voting aye, and Member Montgomery voting no.
<br />Whereupon, the title having been read and further reading waived, Resolution No. 2024-1 of
<br />the Board of Public Utilities of the City of Riverside, California, (1) adopting and establishing
<br />the renewal of the water conservation surcharge of 1.5 percent of total water rates and
<br />charges (originally adopted and established on May 25, 2004 by City Council Resolution
<br />20695, and renewed on April 22, 2014 by City Council Resolution 22675) by amending Water
<br />Rate Schedules WA -1 A, WA -1B, WA -2, WA -3, WA -4, WA -5, WA -6, WA -7, WA -8, WA -9, WA -10,
<br />WA -1 1, and WA -12, effective upon Council approval through ten years thereafter; (2) making
<br />related findings of fact; and (3) recommending City Council approval thereof, was presented
<br />and adopted.
